I've been trying for a long time to get Photoshop's Mixer Brush Tool into my workflow, but I end up fighting the tool more often than not. And when you keep fighting a tool, it's better to find something else, right? Don't get me wrong. You can do some pretty cool looking color blending with it. If you enjoy using a painterly style that imitates traditional paint, I would strongly suggest experimenting with it beyond the first few strokes that are all but guaranteed to look like wet turds. It's just the simple smooth color blending that the Mixer Brush isn't particularly good at, compared to, say, PaintTool SAI or Manga Studio. It's a shame, really, because it does have potential.

Fortunately, Adobe has got a forum for adding suggestions for features in Photoshop, so I decided to share my thoughts on how to improve the Mixer Brush there, in hopes that the developers get a better understanding of what digital painters want out of a digital color blending tool.

If you agree with me that the Mixer Brush could use some improvement to make color blending in Photoshop easier, maybe something more akin to PaintTool SAI's color blending, feel free to head on over to my thread on the Photoshop suggestions forum and help increase the visibility of it. It's a bit of a hassle, but If you have an Adobe ID, I hope you'll make use of it to share your thoughts and/or click the +1 button at the bottom of the post to show that you like the idea. And if I failed to mention something important, go ahead and elaborate on it in your reply.

You'll find the thread here: feedback.photoshop.com/photosh…

What are your thoughts on the Mixer Brush as it is now? Do you use it?

I've been wanting to change my username for so long. And now I finally have. So, to avoid any confusion, I figured I'd let you know.

That's all for now!

I finally got around to posting the stuff I've been working on the past year. So, as you can see, I haven't been as lazy as you thought I was. Hah! Hopefully, it won't be as long between now and the next time I post something. Paizo Publishing has been kind enough to give me a bunch of projects working on art for their Pathfinder RPG. It's nice to have been able to do some proper illustration work the past year. It really does push me to work faster, which I think I'll benefit a lot from.

In other news, my Diablo 3 fan art painting of the Demon Hunter seems to be one of today's Daily Deviations. That's pretty cool! Thanks rydi1689 and TheCreativeJenn for suggesting and featuring it. As a result, I'm getting tons of comments, and I don't know if I'll get around to replying to each one, but they're all very much appreciated!

Put your seat belts on, because the Desert Bus is firing up once again! Keeping with tradition, the sketch comedy troupe Loading Ready Run are doing their annual Desert Bus video game marathon as a fund raiser for the Child's Play charity this year as well, and it's more popular than ever. Desert Bus for Hope 5 starts tonight (Nov 18) at 6 PM PST, and will most likely keep going for the next five days or so.

During their looong and boring/hilarious trek through the desert they'll be auctioning off and giving away a busload of fantastic prizes. Check these out!

There's definitely some drool-worthy stuff  in there. I've particularly fallen for the Majora's Mask laptop bag. It looks fantastic! It's a shame it only fits a 14" laptop. Oh, and it'll probably go for some ridiculous sum of money I can't even hope to afford. I was about to say it was hand crafted and all, but the rumor is it was made by lasers. That makes it even better!

The Loading Ready Run gang is a likeable and funny bunch of people, so do yourself a favor and follow the live stream of this year's event over at the official site. You'll most likely enjoy it. And if you want to make sure they keep going for a while, while also helping sick children, feel free to donate. And if you can't donate, you can still help them out (read: prolong the bus drivers' suffering) by spreading the word!
